Construction project manager

Construction project manager

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all stages of a construction project: working with subcontractors, close relations with the client, and monitoring costs and deadlines.

What will your working week be like?

  • Co-ordinate work with the superintendent (schedule, labour requirements, equipment needed, etc.);
  • Managing changes and directives ;
  • Manage plans, specifications and addendums ;
  • Establish work methods in collaboration with the superintendent and technical manager, and always seek to optimize them.
  • Make a list of activities to enable the EHS manager to prepare the prevention program;
  • Establish a list of items for cost tracking and project accounting;
  • Settle disputes in collaboration with the superintendent;
  • Breakdown and invoicing;
  • Administrative follow-up (costs, contingencies, claims, etc.);
  • Coordinate technical monitoring and quality inspections (technical data sheets, inspections, etc.);
  • Follow-up on change notices (estimation, submission to the customer, negotiation, issue of orders and/or contract);
  • Follow up payments with accounts payable and accounts receivable;
  • Authorize payments to subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Prepare project balance sheet (construction method, productivity ratio, unit price, etc.).

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience;
  • Strong management, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to show initiative and leadership;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project;
  • Ability to bid on projects an asset.
